Easy, 3 ingredient dessert

By Elisa Posniack, Publisher, NW Bergen County, NJ June 18, 2026

Who wants an EASY, 3 ingredient, HEALTHY snack, good any time of the day? I do!

My 3 ingredient Chocolate Quinoa Crisps are so easy to make, even a toddler can do it (does anyone remember the commercial reference?)

If you are looking for a different type of dessert that is dairy, gluten and guilt free (well basically guilt free), then look no further.

All you need are dark chocolate chips, coconut oil and puffed quinoa. You can also swap out the coconut oil with peanut or almond butter, for added protein and a unique taste!

Recipe:

Dark chocolate chips (1-1 1/2 cups)

Unrefined Coconut Oil (1 tbsp.) or Almond/peanut butter (2 heaping tablespoonfuls)

Puffed Quinoa (1 and 1/4 cups)

Directions:

Melt your dark chocolate chips in a double boiler. If you do not have one, you can two pots which will sit atop one another, giving enough space between.

When the chocolate is completely melted and slightly, but not completely cooled, add either the coconut oil or almond/peanut butter. Mix very well.

Pour the puffed quinoa into the melted mixture. Combine all ingredients completely.

While the mixture is still warm, scoop onto parchment paper or you can use mini heart shaped molds.

Refrigerate for a few hours and serve with breakfast, lunch or dinner!

3 ingredients, no bake Chocolate Quinoa Crisps are delicious, easy to make and fun for kids of all ages to help prepare.

They probably wont last long!

*Please note, if you do not have puffed quinoa, you can use finely crumbled rice cakes (salted or unsalted). If using unsalted rice cakes instead, you can add a small amount of sea salt for that salty/sweet flavor contrast.

**Recipe yields approx. 8-10 crisps

Enjoy!
